Made with love in Brainerd, MN.

A bit about myself.

Hey all! If you are reading this, you may be interested in learning about me a little. So with that being said…I’ll share some information about myself!

My name is Joshua Jay, I’m a husband, father and tattooer. I love my job providing artwork/skin souvenirs for my clients and my supportive family for backing me in my dream to devote myself to this trade. I’m a local, raised in the Brainerd Lakes area and graduated in 2003 from Brainerd High School. Art has always been a main interest of mine and I’m grateful to get to apply it to people everyday!

I’m also a Veteran of the United States Navy, where I served for just under 12 years. I left tattooing in 2008/2009, enlisted in the Navy and never had any intentions of staying for more than 4 years. I realized that I was pretty damn good at my job as an Aviation Electronics Technician and promoted to E-5 in my first enlistment, which prompted me to re-enlist shortly before my first 4 years were up. I did 3 deployments to the Middle East onboard the USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. When I finally decided to hang up my hat and rest my exhausted body and my strained mental health, I was Honorably Discharged as an E-6. I’m proud to have served and do not regret my time. I enjoyed mentoring Sailors and the camaraderie we shared.

For a majority of my time in the Navy I also tattooed. I enjoyed my time working in Oak Harbor, Washington at Nite Owl Tattoo. I will periodically take trips back out to work with my friends there and catch up with clients, friends and Shipmates.

When I was planning to make my exit from military service, I had been talking with Tyler and had worked it out for me to come back and work alongside him at Red At Night Tattoos and Piercings. I’m eternally grateful to him for allowing me to work with him and value his friendship! He has put together a beautiful space and is extremely talented at what he does!

With that being said…

I enjoy tattooing primarily Traditional and Neo-Traditional subject matter, Floral tattoos, as well as color-work. I am not afraid to take on most cover-ups and would like to start taking on some more black and grey realism projects!

I’m all about positivity, healing and moving forward! So leave the negative ju-ju at the door!

Be bold, be kind!
